Lacking a centralized, internal, knowledge sharing platform, the Department of Justice sought IDEO and Blackbird out to build a platform that would remove organizational silos, promote collaboration and bolster both their original scholarship and professional development. Let’s debrief on Debrief.

From the beginning, a Blackbird CTO helped align the development, design, and DOJ teams, untangling security and compliance hurdles early. Developers embedded in the design team were active collaborators through user research and design sprints, resulting in a tech architecture that prioritizes simple management and design affordances that let users focus on the platform’s mission writing and sharing knowledge.

Blackbird developed, Debrief, a platform that allows the DOJ’s lawyers to nominate their colleagues, subject matter experts, to write and broadly share professional insight.
